The Mayo Clinic Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine invite senior medical students to apply for a one-year clinical research fellowship position starting April 2015.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to strengthen their application for the Orthopedic Residency Match. The research fellow will be expected to work on numerous projects with several investigators; therefore, excellent organizational and communication skills are paramount. Duties include project design, Institutional Review Board applications, scientific literature search, data collection, progress updates and manuscript preparation.

You will have the opportunity to work with four board-certified Sports Medicine orthopedic surgeons. Our previous fellows have been prolific, with typically 10-15 accepted or published manuscripts and numerous abstracts accepted for presentation at national/international meetings during the year.

All 8 previous fellows have successfully matched in residency programs, and we are confident that our current fellow will match this year as well.

If you have any additional questions regarding the fellowship, please contact our current fellow Paul Sousa (Sousa.Paul@Mayo.edu). You may also refer to the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine website for further information on the facility: www.mayoclinic.org/sportsmedcenter-rst/

To apply, email your CV, two letters of recommendation, personal statement, picture, USMLE scores, clinical grades, and a very brief statement of interest to our current fellow Paul Sousa.

We wish you success in this year's match!

Sincerely,

Bruce A. Levy, MD

We are happy to announce that our current research fellow successfully matched into an orthopedic residency position for the upcoming year.

We are now entering our tenth year of the research fellowship. This continues our strong track record as all nine our former research fellows have successfully matched.

For those who did not match this year and are interested in a research position, we invite you to apply to the Mayo Clinic Orthopedic Sports Medicine Research Fellowship. The deadline for applications is Friday, March 20th.

If you have any questions, would like more information, or to submit an application, please e-mail our current research fellow, Paul Sousa at Sousa.Paul@Mayo.edu.

Sincerely,
Bruce A. Levy, MD
