Position Filled: 2022-23 University of Utah Pediatric and Adult Sports Medicine Research Fellowship – Steve Aoki, MD

Dr. Stephen K. Aoki invites 3rd and 4th year medical students interested in orthopaedic surgery to apply for a one-year sports medicine research fellowship. At this time, we are only considering students from United States accredited MD programs. This is a full-time, paid position with the University of Utah. This fellowship is focused on pediatric and adult hip and knee research. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis with an anticipated decision in February/March 2022. Early applications are encouraged.

Dr. Stephen K. Aoki specializes in the surgical treatment of pediatric, adolescent, and adult sports injuries of the hip and knee. Dr. Aoki serves as team physician for University of Utah Gymnastics, University of Utah Football and is the head orthopaedic surgeon for Real Salt Lake Major League Soccer. Dr. Aoki also serves as the current Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine and is the former Chair of the University of Utah Residency Selection Committee.  

Current research is focused on both pediatric and adult sports medicine, primarily related to hip and knee pathology. Research includes clinical, biomechanical, and basic science projects. As the research assistant, you will be responsible for managing and organizing multiple projects and efficiently following them to completion. We are looking for a socially intelligent, motivated, self-driven, and trustworthy individual to fill this position. 

Position: Research Assistant (Full-time paid position)

Duration: ~May 2022 - May 2023 (optional 2nd year, start date negotiable)

Location: University of Utah Orthopaedic Center/Primary Children’s Hospital. Salt Lake City, UT.
