Orthopaedic Surgery Research Fellowship Opportunity at University Hospitals Cleveland, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH

The Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute at University Hospitals is now accepting applications from qualified US MD/DO students for a one-year, paid, full time clinical research fellowship position in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for June 2023-June 2024.

During the year, the Research Fellow will have the opportunity to coordinate and participate in the management of multiple new and ongoing clinical trials, maintenance of the IRB approval process, grant writing, as well as the initiation and completion of manuscripts within the UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute. Basic science studies are available for interested applicants. The Research Fellow will work directly with Drs. Voos, Gillespie, Salata, Calcei, Karns and Chen, as well as the orthopaedic surgery residents and orthopaedic surgery sports medicine fellow.

Benefits of the fellowship include 3 weeks of vacation, funding for travel to the AAOS annual meeting, and support to present accepted research at additional meetings. This unique fellowship provides the opportunity to gain significant experience in sports medicine research and strengthen an application to an orthopaedic residency program. There are no call or clinical responsibilities, although there is ample opportunity to integrate into the clinical setting. Fellows can expect to publish multiple manuscripts, present at national meetings and make valuable connections.

The UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute serves as the Team Physician’s for the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Monsters, Cleveland Marathon, Cleveland Triathlon, 6 colleges and nearly 50 high schools.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and an interest in orthopaedic clinical research. Interested applicants should send their CV and a letter of interest (200 words or less) via email to Lisa Piazza (This email address is being protected from spambots.
