PROGRAM INFORMATION
Position Title: Rush Orthopedics Adult Joint Reconstruction Research Fellow
When: Start May/June 2020 (12 month commitment)
Who: US medical students between M3/M4 or after M4 year interested in Orthopedic Surgery. Only USA students will be considered.
Location: Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL
Salary: A salary and health benefits will be provided.
Dr. Brett Levine and Dr. Tad Gerlinger invite 3rd year and 4th year graduating medical students to apply for a Clinical Research Fellowship in Adult Joint Reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center. This annual fellowship is awarded to a rising fourth-year or recently graduated medical student who has demonstrated a keen interest in orthopaedics and is a competitive future candidate for a residency in orthopaedic surgery. He or she will function as a research coordinator for any new or ongoing projects. This involves leading his or her own studies as well as functioning as a co-investigator on collaborative ventures with residents, fellows, and attendings here at Rush and at other sites.
The position also provides the opportunity to be mentored in a clinical setting; to observe and partake in surgeries; and to attend weekly lectures and conferences with Rush orthopaedic residents, fellows and faculty.
The chosen applicant typically begins end of May or after third-year rotations are completed and works for one calendar year. The position is salaried.

Summary of Duties:
- Conduct all aspects of prospective and retrospective surgical research.
- Write and edit manuscripts and textbook chapters.
- Submit manuscripts and abstracts for publication/presentation.
- Enroll patients in orthopaedic surgery studies in clinic.
- Coordinate medical student, resident, and Joint fellow's research efforts.
