2027-2028 NYU HJD Shoulder and Elbow Research Fellowship

Eligibility: Third and Fourth-year US medical students, premedical students

Position: Two Medical Student Clinical Research Fellowships and One Premedical Student Clinical Research Fellowship

Research Fellowship Experience:  

This is a wonderful opportunity for a highly-motivated individuals to strengthen their application for the orthopedic surgery residency match. The research fellow is expected to work on numerous projects with several investigators, the clinical fellow, and residents; therefore, excellent organizational and communication skills are paramount. The division currently has over 50 active and ongoing projects. Duties of the fellow include, but are not limited to: 

- Developing projects in accordance with the rest of the team 

- Data collection, management, and statistical analysis 

- Drafting, editing, and submitting studies for publication (abstract and manuscripts) 

- Write and get IRB approval for new study protocols/ continuing reviews on active studies 

- Use of REDCap and Microsoft office software 

- Enroll patients and ensure completion of prospective studies  

- Supervise medical students assisting with divisional studies 

In addition, the fellow will have the ability to audit courses related to clinical research duties and data analysis skills at the NYU School of Medicine. Opportunities to be mentored in a hospital clinic and research setting are available as well.
