Position Title: Volunteer Clinical Research Fellow
Positions: 1 available
Duration: 1-2 years
Who: US medical students between their M2/M3 or M3/M4 years , ECFMG graduates without Visa issues
Where: Lourdes Hospital part of Ascension at Binghamton, New York
When: Beginning ASAP, minimum 1-year commitment
Salary: This is a volunteer position, stipends may or may not be available
Visa: Not supported
Duties:
• Coordination of all research projects including both clinical
• Data gathering
• Statistical analysis of data
• Submission of protocols to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
• Drafting and assisting in the writing/editing of spine/orthopedic surgery manuscripts, reviews, book chapters and textbooks
Specific Prerequisites and Characteristics of the coordinators should include:
• Strong motivation for a career in Orthopaedic Surgery or Orthopaedic Research
• Proven interest in research
• MUST be extremely organized
• MUST be detail oriented
• MUST be able to self manage
• Strong academic record
Benefits of the position:
• The fellow should expect to have 10-20 publications/chapters/abstracts by the end of the research year
• This will undoubtedly bolster and enhance competitiveness for a position in an orthopaedic surgery residency or career in research although there are no guarantees
• The ability to collaborate with the group of orthopaedic surgeons in our group
• Opportunities to observe surgical procedures with Dr. Issa and partners
• Potential opportunities to attend and present research at Orthopaedic Conferences locally, nationally, and internationally
