Dr. Brian Forsythe is seeking bright, ambitious medical students (years 2-4) who are interested in pursuing a year-long clinical research fellowship. Dr. Forsythe works with the renowned Division of Sports medicine at Rush University, Chicago, IL. This unique opportunity will allow the research fellows to work closely with residents, fellows, and faculty at Rush.

Position Title: Clinical Research Coordinator
Number of Positions: 2
Duration: 1 year
When: Beginning approx. May-June 2019
Salary: A monthly stipend is provided

The two research coordinators will work very closely, and be responsible for duties including:
- Coordination of all research projects including both clinical and biomechanical studies
- Dissection/testing of cadaveric specimens for research purposes
- Submission of protocols and updates to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
- Statistical analysis of data
- Drafting and assisting in the writing/editing of sports medicine/orthopaedic surgery manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters
- Collection of intra-operative data and following up with patients in clinic on a weekly basis
- Grant writing

Specific prerequisites and characteristics of the coordinators should include:
- Strong motivation for a career in orthopaedic surgery
- Proven interest in research
- Strong academic record
- MUST be extremely organized
- MUST be detail oriented
- MUST be able to self-manage and work independently
- MUST be able to work efficiently with clinical staff and with your partner
- Experience with statistical analysis or coding is a plus, but not necessary

- Opportunities to attend Orthopaedic Grand Rounds, Sports Conferences, Journal Clubs, and Cadaver Labs
- Opportunities to present research at national orthopaedic surgery conferences
- Dr. Forsythe fully expects all of his research fellows to match into Orthopaedic Surgery and will help the candidate throughout the match process
