Hello all,

I would like to inform prospective fellow applicants of a new sports medicine fellowship that will begin August 1st, 2023 hosted by Children's Health Andrews Institute in Plano, TX.  This will be a well rounded adult, adolescent and pediatric sports medicine fellowship.  At its inception, it will be the only orthopedic sports medicine fellowship in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex.

As of now, it will be a non-ACGME accredited fellowship but with a goal of ACGME accreditation.

We are currently recruiting one fellow to begin this August. The fellow will spend equal time between Children's Health Andrews Institute (CHAI) and Plano Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center (POSMC).  Our structure creates a boutique setting with broad exposure to sports medicine.

CHAI will have three principle faculty members: Dustin Loveland, John Roaten and myself.  This site will provide high volume adolescent sports medicine as well as complex knee surgery for adolescent and adult patients. This site would be of particular interest to fellow applicants interested in pediatric and adolescent sports medicine as well as advance patellofemoral surgery to include trochleoplasty.

POSMC will have three main faculty: Randal Troop, Michael Howard and Rich Evanson. POSMC is a long established and high volume community private practice that will give the fellow exposure to all aspects of shoulder and elbow sports medicine (rotator cuff, UCL injuries, shoulder instability, etc) and shoulder arthroplasty, open and arthroscopic hip surgery and general sports medicine.

The fellow will have ample sports coverage to include high school football (the fellow will his or her own team each fall) as well as professional coverage of the AA baseball team the Frisco Rough Riders with Dr. Troop.

There is a publication requirement and John Abt, PhD is the director of research for the fellowship who will help guide the fellow through project completion.

We will be recruiting outside of the match for the next two years.

Please email Sarah Brackens (sarah.brackens@childrens.com) and myself (james.pace@childrens.com) for further information and to inform us of your interest in the fellowship.

Thank you for your time!
