2023-2024 Post-vacancy Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Position
Start date August 1, 2023The comprehensive Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Program at NorthShore Orthopaedic & Spine Institute is led by Program Director Lalit Puri, MD, Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine, University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and offers a broad operative experience. The one-year program introduces fellows to the latest innovations in the specialty, including minimally-invasive anterior and posterior approaches to hip arthroplasty as well as robotically-assisted and computer-navigated knee arthroplasty. In addition, the program affords excellent exposure to revision joint arthroplasty and joint preserving hip arthroscopy. In 2019 NorthShore transformed Skokie Hospital into the Orthopaedic & Spine Institute, launching the first orthopaedic specialty hospital in the state of Illinois. This dedicated leading-edge facility centralizes and expands upon the high quality orthopaedic and spine care we deliver—both enhancing patient outcomes and providing an outstanding educational environment for our trainees. Our fellows train in the uniquely innovative care delivery setting of a dedicated orthopaedic specialty hospital featuring 123 inpatient orthopaedic beds. Fellows also have the opportunity to work with academic and private practitioners throughout NorthShore’s seven-hospital system and outpatient locations in Chicago and the area’s suburban NorthShore communities.Every Adult Reconstruction fellow has the opportunity to join NorthShore faculty members in an overseas mission with Operation Walk Chicago. A not-for-profit medical humanitarian organization, Operation Walk Chicago provides free hip and knee replacement surgeries to low-resource areas around the world.Collaboration with the NorthShore Orthopaedic Institute research enterprise also exposes the fellow to a number of different clinically based research opportunities around arthroplasty outcomes and economic issues regarding joint arthroplasty.Visit our website for more information: www.northshore.org/academics/academic-pr...dult-reconstruction/
