As far as job placement goes (location, compensation) what seems to be the most important factor...the prestige of your fellowship or your residency program?

Quite honestly unless you're going into academics, I don't think that it matters too much on where you did your training. If I were to choose between the two, I would have to say that the fellowship is more important.

I've started to look into various orthopaedic opportunities and I have yet to receive the comment, "oh..., your doing your residency (fellowship) there." The main thing is that you're doing a fellowship, thus a year of specialized training which is what practices looking for a subspecialist want.
