Just looking for a little updated info on trauma fellowships...seems there is much more discussion on others. I've heard some mixed things about some "top tier" programs. Any info would be much appreciated, particulary from current/recent fellows or interviewees. Any "must see" or "don't bother" type places? Thanks...

Depends what your plans are for post-fellowship. Some of the places that people look at are Shock, Harborview, Tampa, and Carolinas. Wildcat had a good posting on some specifics of these programs earlier this year.

Carolinas is highly regarded by most people since you get a good experience, have a good lifestyle, go to a "big name" place, work with nice AND well known attendings (Bosse is OTA president, Kellam is the AO foundation president) and live in a cool city (charlotte).
Another sleeper I thought was Wake forest. Dr webb is very nice and they have a good set up.

Replied by on topic I think you should choose
I think you should choose a fellowship based on what you need. For instance if you did not do much trauma in residency than you need to go to a crazy busy place where you run around nailing femurs all night. On the other hand if you already had that experience in residency than you may want to focus on big pelvic and acetabular cases during the daytime.
Next choose to do your fellowship with the guys who are masters at the thing you are interested in.
I am currently a Trauma Fellow with Mark Vrahas, Malcolm Smith, Mitch Harris, and Tim Bhattacharyya at Harvard. I am very much enjoying it. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you.
