[FILLED] Brown Hand Surgery Research Fellowship was created by BrownHandResearch
The Division of Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery at Brown University and University Orthopedics in Providence, RI is accepting applications from 3rd-year medical students, unmatched 4th-year medical students, and recent US medical graduates for a one-year paid clinical research position. The research fellow will work closely with the division attendings and the rest of the research team including fellows, residents, students, and others. This is an excellent opportunity to expand one’s knowledge and research experience in orthopedics and to strengthen an application for the orthopedic surgery residency match.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management of clinical trials and ongoing studies
- Perform literature reviews, develop research hypotheses, and formulate research protocols
- Drafting and submitting IRB proposals
- Study recruitment
- Scheduling and conducting study related visits
- Conduct monthly research meetings to attendings and fellows updating status of ongoing projects
- Data collection and management
- Manuscript writing and submission
Duration: 1 year
Where: University Orthopedics, Inc., Rhode Island Hospital, and Brown University in Providence, RI
When: May 2023 (dates are flexible)
Salary: monthly stipend

Qualifications:
- Genuine interest in orthopaedics and treatment of musculoskeletal disease
- Strong academic record
- Excellent personal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently and efficiently
- Previous experience in research and statistical analysis is preferable
