not a very good program, definitely below avg. not enough operative experience. little trauma experience. poor teaching. heard their OITE scores are piss-poor. oh yeah and worcester is not exactly a fun town. but then again ortho is ortho, right?

I trust this is a joke. Level I trauma - plenty of trauma, DHS/nails/etc are routine, done by PGY2-3s. Operative experience is excellent - most can do primary TKR by the end of 3 year. Some OITE scores in 90s. Basic Science available if you really want it. No night float, call tough at trauma hospital, pretty nice at joints hospital. Great group of residents, probably the strongest aspect of program. Recent Fellowships - Baptist/Joints, Childrens, HSS/Sports (declined due to military) Brigham/Sports, Charlotte/Spine, Baptist/Spine, UCSD/Trauma Lots of "gentlemans" clubs in Worcester.

did a rotation there. busy level 1 trauma center at UMAss worcester not so busy at memorial hospital-mostly total joints no tumor guy new foot and ankle guy 2 out of four positions are one extra year research and are outside the match some attendings are cool. At least 2 are malignant new ortho chair seems pretty cool but the program is 'dynamically" changing with a focus on total joints (since the new chair is a joints guy) residents can be cool if they like you but i personally wouldn't say this is the strongest aspect of the program 2nd years and 3rd years do operate but not when they're on call or post call and there are no overnight PA's. worcester isn't bad as boston is close and its relatively cheap to live in.
