Although I haven't received any yet, I'm sure that we're all doomed to get a few. It might be helpful to everyone to start this thread along with the invitation thread. Include the institution, the date you got it, & the method (email, snail-mail, etc). I'll post mine as soon as I get em'
Do most programs tell you straight up you ain't getting an interview? I just assumed that they would give me the silent treatment was their way of telling to go !@*# myself.

I think some use the silent treatment but some do send out rejections. http://www.orthogate.com/option,com_forum/Itemid,47/page,viewtopic/t,1919.html Good Luck To All

The majority of programs send rejection letters. There are a few that leave you hanging - pretty unprofessional! You can always call and ask. Be careful about calling though; I received as many interviews as I did rejections when I called. It is clearly far too early to call programs at this point.

First rejection - University of Rochester, sent this morning via email. They let me down easy. It's good to know that "The entire faculty in the Department of Orthopaedics thanks you for considering us in your application process." It is nice that they give a definitive answer rather than keep me in suspense. Current status: 3 interview offers and 1 rejection.

University of Rochester via email today (11/7) at 9:26 am Dear Applicant: The Residency Selection Committee at the University of Rochester has carefully reviewed your recent application for a residency position. We regret to inform you that we will be unable to offer you an interview. The applicant pool this year had an abundance of extremely well qualified people, making the selection for applicant interviews quite difficult. We sincerely wish we could interview everyone. The entire faculty in the Department of Orthopaedics thanks you for considering us in your application process. We wish you well in your future academic pursuits. good luck!

a blood bath in my INBOX: rejections from 1. U of Rochest 2. Arizona 3. Allegheny sent out interview invitations (which I didnt get...) and i checked their site and they dont send out rejections... so i'm assuming that they're not interested... or they may have been serious about the whole four LOR thing so far 4 for good 3 for bad... cant wait to see what happens tomorrow. Also, U of Maryland said they would let me know yes/no by 14NOV but I got a bad vibe...

Got the "It's not you, it's me"/"I love you but I'm not in love with you" email from Wake Forest. Any Seinfeld fans? Reminds me of George getting dumped at Monks. George: "You're giving me the 'It's not you it's me' routine? I invented 'It's not you, it's me'. If it's anybody, it's me!" Girl: "Alright George...it's you." George: "You're damn right it's me!"

Received an ambiguous message from Indiana University today via snail-mail: "While we thank you for your interest in our program, you are not being considered for an interview at this time." Maybe they'll consider me next week?
