I am wondering if anyone else has tasted rejection this year. Is this too early for rejections to start coming in??

case rejected me right off the bat last year as well and I matched at a better program anyways, so don't sweat it.

word to the wise.. even if you are a steller applicant.. get used to rejection.. After your 10th rejection it stops stinging as much.. two years, 140 applications, 30 interviews, 38 offers.. 102 rejections.. It's not that bad... and hey, I matched, so all is well

What qualifies as an 'offer.'

you can go on 30 interviews, but be offered 38.. ie you don't go b/c you have a conflict..

I don't think that's a fair statement.. interviews can be somewhat random when it comes to certain programs.. Ys, getting a bunch of 'good' interviews is common..but you never know which one you're actually going to get one from.

case email 10/12 On an aside, i dont know if this has been mentioned before or not, do most programs email a rejection or do some programs just leave you out to dry... no invite, no wait list, nothing back?

it is notably a mixed bag when it comes to this. I would say that as a whole, most programs do send you the rejection notifications..which usually say 'you were a great selection, but we just can't offer enough interviews' or something like that to soften blow

Me too. Didn't want to go there anyway! I think I'll just say that every time I get a rejection.

Just thought I'd consolidate this morbid thread: Case - 9/27, 10/12 JPS - 10/18 Ohio State - 11/2, 3 Compared to last year's rejection thread it seems like fewer rejections have been sent out so far. I'm going to grasp at straws and take that as a sign of hope.

have only gotten no's from case and jps but it seems like unless u were on the waitlist, it'll be hard to get an interview from one of the schools that's already sent out interviews

I agree...but if they don't reject you they could potentially interview you at any time...i guess...

You can't win them all. But at least these schools have sent out emails so you know. I will remember this in the future, because there are two rather stuck up school in my hometown that ignored me for both undergrad and med school. After my mother and sister have now seen specialists and both places, I realize its just a systemic problem. Some places are just filled with A-holes.

Haha, I got canned at WF and Rochester today too. Didn't hear from Gtown though. It's nice to start hearing from places, good news or bad. The suspense is killing me. It's like waiting for my Step 1 score all over again.

I haven't heard anything from G'town yet either. Hopefully it means we're on a waitlist or something. I agree that the silence is the worst part of this.
