At our program, the guys from Toledo rotate with us at the Shrine, and they are consistently good guys. They are well trained, surgically and academically. I think you could be successful coming out of Toledo. Dunno about Wisconsin.

I did not rotate at either place, but interviewed at MCOW as an applicant and was impressed. I have known people who were students there and who recently rotated there. MCOW is one of those places that it seems most people walk away from being pleasantly suprised by the high quality of the training and the residents. I have never met anyone who had negative things to say about the program. This is more antecdotal than anything, but it seemed a shame that no one was responding to your post regarding this very good program. It went reasonably high on my rank list two yrs ago. I did not interview at Medical College of Ohio so I cant compare the two. Good luck with your decision.

Now commonly known as MCW to the folks who go there. The ortho program is excellent, and is constantly improving. They are well represented in all subspecialties. What stands out is that there is more than one faculty representing each subspecialty (minus foot/ankle) that allows you to see several approaches to management. Peds is phenominal, onc is very busy, sports/joint is strong, there is more than enough trauma, but not too heavy. The attendings are, for the most part, very willing to teach. The facilities are top notch. I was very impressed with this program and will rank it highly.

Actually, I made a mistake. They do have 2 foot/ankle staff now.

i am a resident at Medical University of Ohio. The program has markedly improved over the past year with the addition of three new attendings, (sports, joints, spine) and the recent building of an outpatient surgical center. the residents are happy and all get along well. The camraderie is great and the residents are very social. Currently, there is so much operating going on, that clinics are often going uncovered. Still, almost all residents are out the door by 7:00pm. the exceptions are the two residents on trauma with our chairman. they often work until 8-9pm. While previously i felt that sports and joints were weak, the new attendings are quite busy already. Currently, the main weakness of our program is that it is in toledo ohio
