Anybody have an interview yet and care to comment? I've heard they've got a new program director recently after a major exodus of attendings but are now rebuilding, anybody know any details?
Just want to second bigpiece's request for info on this program. It would be greatly appreciated. h well:

If anyone out there is considering dropping their interview at Oregon, please let me know. I'm grovelling here and would be more than too happy to collect anybody's scraps for a spot.

I am a intern at OHSU, and love the program. It was my first choice last year, and I have never regretted coming here. I did an AI and fell in love with the program. The program had issues 3-4 years ago when they split from the general surgery department, which caused about 7-8 faculty to leave. Since then they have rebuilt under Dr Dirschl, the new chair. He is a young, energetic trauma specialist who is a great resident advocate. Call is q6 and the program is very resident friendly. They have added about 5 faculty members over the last 2 years and are adding about 4-5 more over the next 2 years. It used to be a primarily community program, but is definitely being redirected towards an academic program. Strengths- trauma, peds, joints. Live in Portland. Weakness (currently) - hand, sports, Trailblazers. They are adding faculty to address these weaknesses, but no one can help the Blazers (they just lost to the Nuggets!!). Other things... OHSU is undergoing a massive expansion, with a new hospital wing, a tram, and $200 million research facilities on the river. Already has a freestanding top-notch childrens hospital and a Shriners hospital on the campus. We are applying for an additional resident this year, which looks promising. Please feel free to email me with questions, and anyone interviewing on Friday I will see you then (or Thursday night for a little boozing). :smokin:

I'm resubmitting my plea for anyone cancelling their interview here. And, yes, I know it's only two days away. Thanks.
