I just received a grade for an away rotation. I think the narrative + grade would be helpful for me-is there any way to update my application with this new addition?
I'm guessing you didn't get a letter from someone at the away institution by chance?

I did, but it was a little late. There was an issue with the post-office at my school.

Suck, well odds are you have a good chance to match there anyway! Might also want to try calling the person that wrote you the letter and see if they can be an advocate, ie. make personal emails/calls etc. to specific programs.

Yeah, I have a shot at matching there now. I would hate to ask someone to start making phone calls for me....

I hate pestering people... I don't want to be that annoying medical student who takes time out of a busy surgeon's day.

Ya, that was me last year. Didn't work out for me so well... The one piece of advice I got over and over again is you need a mentor advocate who will go to bat for you during this process. You have to do everything you can to separate yourself from the pack and stand out. It's a fine line between being annoying and sincere, but the worst thing you can do is nothing. Just my two cents...

True, thank you for the advice. I hope you match this year, you seem like you're willing to help.

When you contact these people do you just do it via e-mail or what? I got a great letter from one of my aways, and this is definitely one of my top choices, so emailing them and everything just keeping in contact is a good idea?

Yes, it is a good idea to continue to show interest. How to do it? I'm not the best to answer that cause I suck at it and it shows!
