I was hoping all of you out there that have been through the interview process recently could list the programs you know that typically start interviewing in November. I was hoping that I could take off that month and do my interview during December and Jan. Also, if a program interviews on let's say December 15th... when would you typically get the invitation, and how long do you have to reply? I think I started hearing from a few in early November and they steadily came in until December. You will have about 12 hours to reply. I frequently checked my email 3-4 times a day and I still missed opportunities because I was a few hours late. Specifically, VCU. Mainly, you would miss the day you wanted. The prime days go fast and you will find out that you schedule is very tight. For the most part, the programs will not work with you and your schedule. Too bad so sad. You are one of 600 and if you can't make it they don't care. My advise, don't go on vacation unless you have daily internet access and someone reliable is checking your mail. Wait until after the match. OneRunner Registered User Posts: 15 (3/8/01 2:06:01 pm) Reply Interview Dates I did about half of my interviews before x-mas and half after new year's. They started before Thanksgiving (with little advanced notice) and some were offered as late as Feb 2nd. The early ones included Ohio State, MCV, Akron General and Summa. However, well more than half of the offers that I got were for after x-mas, which can make for a crazy travel schedule in Jauary (most are in the middle 2 weeks of January, it seems). I used the month of Dec to study for and take Step II and do a handful of interviews. Hurricane26 is right in that only the type A compulsive souls who are willing and able to check their email multiple times daily will get interviews that will fit into their schedule. My advice would be to have January off if only 1 month is possible and to not buy your plane tix until the last economically possible moment to avoid adding flights and cancelling tix. slk Registered User Posts: 23 (3/8/01 2:58:33 pm) Reply Re: Which programs interview in November?? Hi bp, it's me again As programs we send faxes to each other to try and coordinate our interview dates so that students who are flying in, can set up all of their interviews as close to each other as possible. I work at a program in CA and the programs here typically interview in January, probably the 2nd and 3rd weeks. I would contact those programs that are you interested in, via email so you wont have to be spending your money, just so that you will know what you can expect as you begin to make your plans for your time off. We send out the emails to those applicants that we are inviting for an interview the first week of December so that they will have time to make their arrangements. I have heard of programs that invite many applicants but in reality do not have those many spots open for interviews so you will need to reply quickly. If we invite 50 applicants then we have 50 spots available for interviews. Our program only has one interview day so unfortunately we cannot accomodate students who cannot make it but I know that there are programs that have several interview days.
