I will be going to the US for clinical electives in Ortho next yr. I wanna know if it counts towards my chances of getting a match.
I know the imp of research but what else can help.??
I am really confused . Kindly guide me on this.
Thanx a lot for the tip... Is it so that one can get a match in general surgery which is comparatively easy and after a yr or so, and then get into ortho??I would think it would be difficult to expect that you are in some way more likely to match in Ortho after a gen surg year. If you are a prelim surg resident, it may be tough to get enough time away to do interviews and you may hurt your chances of getting hired on for the rest of the residency, and if you are in a categorical surgical program they won't appreciate you trying to leave your current residency. my 2 cents
Sound advice here. Double if you need the program to sponsor your visa.Thanx a lot for the tip...
