The Research Associate will work directly under the Director of Clinical Research.   This position is for an MD/DO who is interested in and competitive for Orthopaedic Surgery Residency.   The Research Associate will:

• Facilitate and coordinate multiple ongoing studies
• Work closely with undergraduate students, medical students, residents, and faculty as part of a team of researchers
• Delegate roles amongst students, residents, self
• Write/ edit scientific manuscripts
• Work with a PhD biomechanical engineer and a biomechanics lab
• Dissect and prepare cadaveric specimen for testing
• Assist with submission of research projects to peer reviewed journals and keep up to date with all current submissions to journals
• Coordinate /prepare presentations of research to annual meetings for orthopaedic surgery related research
• Work closely with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in making sure studies are properly reviewed and approved
• Assist in resident and medical student meeting registration and presentations
• Assist in collaborative projects with the LSU Ortho Biomechanics lab and Tissue Regeneration Lab

The work hours are generally Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:30PM.  Additional hours may be required.   Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.   Start date is firmly June 1, 2025. (May be able to start some remote work early, but this would be unpaid and only by request)   Qualifications:

• A medical doctorate degree from an accredited university (must have prior to start date)
• USMLE STEP 1 & 2 scores that are competitive for Orthopaedic Residency
• Would be beneficial if you are proficient in statistical analysis, though it is not required. Include this in your application along with which statistics software you are familiar with.
