NYU Langone Orthopedics Division of Shoulder & Elbow Surgery invites third and fourth-year medical students or medical school graduates to apply for a clinical research fellowship position. A one-year minimum commitment is required for two positions. This is a wonderful opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to strengthen his/her application for the orthopedic surgery residency match. The research fellow is expected to work on numerous projects with several investigators from the Shoulder and Elbow Division; therefore, excellent organizational and communication skills are paramount. Current fellows have over 20 projects submitted or actively drafting, with several other ongoing active studies. Responsibilities and daily activities include: learning how to develop a research hypothesis and to conduct a review of the literature; composing a research protocol; Institutional Review Board applications; opportunities for patient interaction; opportunities to be mentored in a hospital clinic and research setting; collecting, organizing and analyzing clinical research data; preparing the results for submission for academic publication and presentation to peers. In addition, the fellow will have the opportunity to audit courses related to clinical research duties and data analysis skills at the NYU School of Medicine.
