Program Information
Staff/Faculty/Chairman: Staff: Rarely in the OR letting residents start and complete most cases and checking in to guide through difficult cases. For the most part they are easy to get along with. Residency director appears interested in rotaters. Chairman is having difficulty making changes as faculty is resisting.
Didactics/Teaching: Daily with lectures run by residents in different location than main University Hospital.
Operating Experience: Second Years were operating on truama and in the night on call. Third and fourth years seemed capable, but they have Surgical Nurses that do a lot of teaching to the Ortho residents. Sometimes these nurses can take over a case.
Clinic Experience: Typical
Research Opportunities: Protected time starting in the first year with projects in trauma and sports.
Residents: Fun group of guys.
Location/Housing: Housing is affordable although prices are increasing around the city proper.
Limitations: Surgical Nurses teaching procedures is little concerning.
Overall Rotation Experience/Conclusion: Solid training; fun group of guys;
Qualification
I rotated as a medical student at this program
Date of Rotation: Summer 2007
