Results

As of February 2000 11 conditions have been added to the database resulting in 89 files totaling just under a megabyte of information.

6 came from my practice and 1 from a colleague. The remaining 4 were collected from the Orthopod Mailing List (with permission). No cases were submitted.

Comments were posted on 7 of these conditions. 23 different individuals (including the originators of the cases) contributed to the discussion (range 1 – 7 per case). Comments were present only on cases discussed on the Orthopod mailing list. The site has not attracted comment from orthopaedic surgeons although several patients (or families) have made contact.

A bibliography was assembled for 7 of the conditions. The editor undertook a literature search for 6 out of these conditions. In the case of Osseous Hydatosis a list of 15 references was sent with a comment. The number of citations referring to these unusual conditions varied from 202 to 7.
