The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Orthopaedics Medical Student Clinical Research Award offers an extraordinary medical student the opportunity to dedicate a year to complete clinical research projects at CHOP.  This opportunity is a "year out" experience; i.e. the successful applicant will dedicate a year to clinical research with CHOP orthopaedic surgeons before either the third or fourth year of medical school.   Because of the extreme competitiveness of the orthopaedic residency application process, this funded year of clinical research and interaction with the CHOP orthopaedics world- renowned faculty is a much sought after opportunity amongst medical students who want to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery.  The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at CHOP was ranked the best in the nation for orthopaedic care by Child magazine's 2006 survey and has been ranked as the nation's finest in a survey of pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
