The research internship is designed to give currently enrolled or newly
graduated students an opportunity to participate in biomechanics
research projects which are designed to both teach fundamental research
skills and knowledge of orthopaedic clinical research methodology.
The following degree or degree-seeking individuals are encouraged to apply.
- Pre-medical students.
- Undergraduate school graduates
prior to applying to or entering medical school.
- Biomedical
engineering or electrical engineering undergraduate students.

Medical students at any level of their training.
- Graduated medical
students prior to internship year.
Application Process for Research Internships for Steadman Philippon Research Institute:

1.
A cover letter noting the proposed starting and ending dates of an
internship, and one's research interests and career goals. It is up to
the applicant to handle the process for receiving college credit.
2.
Curriculum vitae with a list of your educational experience, related
work experience, lab work experience, computer skill assessment, and a
list of elevant college or graduate level courses related to
biomechanics and the medical field. Provide any published articles or
abstracts. Also list all high school and college volunteer, club, and
sports activities.
3. Please also provide up to three
work or academic-related references with their contact information. It
is preferred that letters be sent with your application or directly to
us.
4. A one-page personal statement reviewing one's
background, career goals, and what is anticipated with this research
internship.
5. If credit is being sought for the
student, a letter of recommendation from either an advisor or a faculty
mentor at the student's educational institution must be presented. The
letter must state whether the student will be receiving college credit
under our guidance and also outline the college or university intentions
and ability to compensate for on-site mentoring if master's level
credit is being pursued.
