UConn Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship

The University of Connecticut recently approved the establishment of a Pediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT.  The one-year fellowship begins in 2013 and continues the long tradition of Pediatric Orthopaedic training first initiated at Newington Children’s Hospital, one of the four seminal Pediatric Orthopaedic Centers in the nation.

The fellow will work with 6 orthopaedics surgeons with specialties in pediatric spinal deformity, pediatric and adolescent sports medicine, pediatric trauma, pediatric and young adult hip pathology, foot and ankle disorders, neuromuscular disorders and syndrome-associated manifestations of the musculoskeletal system.  In addition, the service is complemented by an internationally recognized motion analysis laboratory that is the heart of numerous unique research endeavors, such as the biomechanics of pitching and spine motion in scoliosis.

We are currently recruiting for a fellow to begin July 1, 2013.  The applicant will be a graduate from a medical (allopathic or osteopathic) school and will have completed an ACGME accredited residency in Orthopaedics.  The applicant will also need to have either a U.S. citizenship or be a U.S. national or U.S. permanent resident.  Foreign medical graduates will only be considered if the graduate has a J-1 visa and has completed the STEP examinations required for medical practice in the United States.
