Patellofemoral Joint Replacement Using Vanguard PRF SystemOn Monday, October 30, 2006 at 7pm EST Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, Michigan will host a live surgical broadcast featuring Jeffrey H. DeClaire, MD, of the DeClaire Knee & Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. DeClaire will perform a patellofemoral joint replacement using the Vanguard™ PFR patellofemoral replacement system from Biomet Orthopedics, Inc.

The Vanguard™ Patellofemoral (PFR) System is a bone and ligament sparing implant that employs proven patellar and trochlear geometry and tracking based on a total knee system. The reproducible and instrumented technique may be performed using a traditional or quad-sparing technique.

The event will be moderated by Michael Kolczun, II, M.D., Medical Director of the Cleveland Clinic Sports Health Clinic in Lorain, Ohio. Dr. Kolczun will provide an overview of the implant and his patient selection criteria, which usually encompasses a younger patient population, who have experienced failure with multiple attempts at more conservative treatments, but are not yet candidates for total knee replacement.
