Orthogate Discussions gives you a place to share, learn, and find powerful ways to promote your musculoskeletal health. Since this is a health-related community, courtesy and compassion are doubly important. Use good taste in describing symptoms and sensitivity towards those who may be coping with illness or have concern for a loved one.

To help create a positive environment, please follow the guidelines below. Be sure to check periodically for updates to these guidelines as our community expands.

Do:

  • Remember you’re in public — the information you post in public areas can be viewed by anyone on the Internet.
  • Respect others' opinions — if necessary, agree to disagree.
  • Behave ethically.
  • Stay on topic — to change the subject, go to another topic area or create a new one.
  • Use good judgment — stay in good taste when discussing sensitive topics.
  • Submit ratings only for treatments you have personal experience with and always be thoughtful about which treatments you recommend as everybody’s situation is unique.
  • Focus on the facts – when rating or reviewing a doctor or hospital, describe your individual experience, not rumors or second-hand stories from others.
  • Be fair and informative – include both the pluses and minuses when rating or reviewing a doctor or hospital.

A word about language: Mild expletives and non-sexual anatomical references are allowed in our forums. However, strong vulgar language or crude sexual references are not appropriate.

Don't:

  • Harass, threaten or embarrass others.
  • Pretend to be someone you are not or make false statements.
  • Be creepy.
  • Post or link to content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable.
  • Use the community for commercial or advertising purposes.
  • Post content that isn’t yours — whether copyrighted or someone's personal material.
  • Believe everything you read – postings submitted by members may be inaccurate or inappropriate for you and should not be taken as medical advice.
  • Engage in, link to, or promote illegal activities or content.
  • Post personal information about someone else unless it’s OK with them.
  • Use a review of a doctor or hospital as an opportunity to vent.

Remember:

All of the information in community areas is provided by people like you. The community content has not been verified or fact-checked by us, and it is not medical advice or diagnoses. If you need specific medical advice or immediate medical attention, please contact your doctor or qualified health care provider.

Since health care is very personal, most places on the site provide you with the ability to post anonymously. Orthogate does not edit member content but we retain the right to remove any content that we do deem inappropriate. Violations of these guidelines could lead to the suspension or deactivation of your Orthogate account and all content associated with it.
