Moderately Expensive Image Capture

Probably the most versatile way of capturing images for use on the Internet is to use a Digital Camera or Digital Camcorder. You get high quality and ease of use. Some of the digital cameras (for example the Minolta Mavica) store the images on disks in compressed format. As a result the image can be rapidly transferred from the digital camera to your computer. You can just transfer the disk from the camera to the computer then copy the file.
Other systems require the camera to be connected to the computer; then the file is transferred easily using custom software. In general the sizes of the files created by the digital cameras are too large for easy use on the Internet  and have to be edited, re-sized and  compressed.
