Insall fellowship

I'm headed there next year.
From what I got at the interview, it sounds like a great year. 4 fellows, 2000 cases per year (divided among the 4), and NO RESIDENTS to vie for cases against.
They told me they do 80% knee and 20% shoulder and "other". I think they have some hip, but not much. I was also told that it's about 50/50 sports/arthroplasty. No trauma/ER call, but you do split call and rounding for the inpatients. Not to mention, it's in Manhattan.
Sounded like fun to me.
Their application is earlier than other sports programs (actually, the interview was BEFORE their own application deadline!), and they let you know right away if they want you, so have an idea early if you want to go.
Hope this helps.

Bronxfixer,

Is shoulder experience adequate? Do the fellows cover any teams?
How do you afford to live there for a year, especially with a family? Did they mention at all subsidized housing, etc.... How many did they interview for the 4 spots......Any more info would be awesome.
