There are more Trauma applicants than spots this year!

it was not too many years ago (like 4 or 5) when only 15-20 of the (then) 75 or so spots filled. I was quite surprised to hear at the OTA that applications were up that much.

It's true... there were about 30 more people than spots this year according to the OTA. Hard to say why the sudden increase in interest in Trauma but I think it may have to do with the favorable job market and opportunities for research, etc.

the applications in peds have doubled-to-tripled from the numbers just two years ago.

I think the number of ortho residents doing fellowships has increased. I think most specialties are seeing more applicants.
