Anybody have any experience with the new 4th ed. Worth updating from the 3rd?

There is not much to upgrade from 3rd to 4th as its a pocket book. Nothing has changed much. Not even the cover I think since I had lost my 3rd edition I bought the 4th ... No noticeable difference.

I posted 3rd edition Handbook of fxs x2 on eBay, definitely still current, and should be plenty of info for the student/junior resident looking for a deal

this books is only worthwhile to help the junior resident initially make a diagnosis while hammered with consults in the ED. Do not base your treatment on it. Treatments are outdated. Have been burnt enough times with it. You SHOULD read Rockwood's and Green's, or skeletal trauma.

So consensus is - if you have the 3rd edition, there is no reason to update to the 4th?

Correct. You will do just fine with the 3rd edition as a junior resident.

Nothing dramatic has changed in initial fracture care since the 3rd edition came out. I still refer to it for the radiographic angles, etc.
